So this week marks the return of The Notwist. I for one couldn’t be more excited. I adore them, so this may be a little/a lot biased.
Where In This World is from the glorious The Devil, You and Me Lp that will shortly be hitting shelfs and is the first offical release from the record.
They have recently been described as “three parts Hood, one part 65″ but to me, its 100% The Notwist. I can see the comparisons but in honesty, if you haven’t listened to them yet go in with open ears. They are often catergorised into Indie Rock and Electronica among others. I think its better to club music together with emotions. For me, The Notwist provide a sadness, in the sense that this world is very sad, but you enrich your own lives. The Notwist to me are gold.
The video is directed by Markus Wambsganss who heightens the sense of alienation in The Notwists music by providing a visual feast of some scary, scary scenario in which two young people need to get out of. Which fits in with every young persons scenario in every country really at the moment. I believe it signifies the nose dive in which we’re on, how out of control we are to change the situation and how things could end up after all of this. (My political babble for you folks!)
The single is released on City Slang, one of my favourite labels and I hope you enjoy the song/video.

Hmm, this coming out, around the same time as the new Subtle record… its an alternative electro pop conspiracy to rule the world, or something..
Like the song, and the videos haunting, like it alot.
Get what you mean by sadness, but its done so beautifully.

I actually just was exposed to The Notwist this time last year. super excited that they’re coming out with new material.
I heard some of their earlier, earlier material and it was mucho different but I’m glad with the direction they went it, I like-a “Off the Rails” and “Neon Golden”
AND I completely agree about music being grouped with emotions, yes.
