Youtube & Myspace & Facebook, Oh My!

June 16th, 2008 · No Comments · Web Reviews

I’ve decided to run with a column again that i started a little while back, but kinda ended up dropping the ball on. Every other Monday i will be putting 1 Youtuber, 1 Myspace profile; be it artist/photographer/band etc and 1 Facebook group into a 405 branded blender and mashing everything up into three digestively pulpy reviews. If you know of any ‘tubers, profiles or groups you would like me to review, by all means let me know.

1.Youtube - ApauledTv - Click here to visit the channel!

ApauledTv is the brain child of Paul Telner, a Canadian comedian who has shot to Youtube “fame” with his wacky and risque antics. Paul; who has won many awards for this pranks carried out on unsuspecting students at his university campus as well as ill tempered members of the general public, is infamously known for smashing an official Youtube trophy in another one of his hilarious stunts. Think Jackass but smarter; Albert Einstein in a shopping cart, if you will. Subscribe now and watch the tears of joy roll down your face!

Stay tuned for an exclusive interview with Paul, coming your way soon!

2.MySpace - Boyce Avenue - Click here to visit the profile!

I recently came across Boyce Avenue whilst browsing Youtube. After watching one of their videos (an acoustic cover of Chris Brown’s “With You”) I was literally left sitting in awe of lead singer Alejandro Manzano’s powerfully raw voice. With a little research, I found the bands Myspace and was even more impressed with a lot of their original alternative acoustic rock material, with such songs as Find Me, Change Your Mind and Not Enough really showing how talented and vocally and instrumentally sound the Florida based group (who are listed as the 3rd most popular unsigned band ever on Myspace!) are collectively.

Boyce Avenue reminds me a lot of bands such as Creed, Nickelback, 12 Stones and 3 Doors Down. Bands i used to listen to a lot when alternative rock was really coming out. That’s not to say that Boyce Avenue is in anyway an imitation of any of those bands, because they’re not. Boyce Avenue, is if anything, a breath of fresh air into the alternate scene. Already with their album entitled “All You Were Meant To Be” and 2 fast selling acoustic cover cd’s out to buy, their award winning and strong home grown talent is what has sadly been submerged by many manufactured bands creeping out of the wood work over the years. Even if you’re not a overly huge fan of alternative rock, Boyce Avenue is definitely worth a listen. Who knows, you might even get hooked just like me?!

3.Facebook - The FourOhFive Group - Click here to join the group!

If you haven’t had a friend lose their mobile phone recently, then maybe you’ve been invited to help make the numbers for a person changing their name to something ridiculous, like Mclovin if they reach 1000 members. Failing that, perhaps you’ve joined one just to express your love/hatred for the latest Big Brother contestant. Whatever, these are just a few examples of the hugely popular yet really annoying Facebook groups that we’ll all get spamming up our in boxes on a daily bases.

We at The 405, have decided to make our own Facebook group, one that’s user friendly and worth joining, ofcourse. Much like our subscription service you’ll be kept up to date with the latest developments from behind our desks over here at The 405 HQ. You’ll also be able to chat to other 405 fans and discuss all sorts. Fun times! But don’t cry if you don’t have Facebook. You can also add us on MySpace by visiting our profile.

Remember to add us to your Top Friends!
