Unusual & Electric - Pulsating Ting EP - Zirkus Records - 28th July
Not strictly a single but a four track EP, Unusual & Electric bring us their left-field samples and dare i say it, Pulsating beats to our ear drums. Think Mr. Scruff if he ditched the trouser Jazz and got a bit more dark. Starting out quite summery with ‘Aggravator’ the vibe soon descends with each track and once we get to ‘Black Bomber’ all levels of electronics get thrown in to create a party so evil even Freddy Kruger would be denied access!

Last Man Down - Killing Time - Karate Kid Records - 21st July
Starting out with a sound very reminiscent of the optimism Angels And Airwaves often display, ‘Killing Time’ soon evolves into a monster of a punk song with a killer chorus. With sunshine oozing from every power chord, it’s hard to believe that these guys come from Cheshire. I’m not such a huge fan of the Sugarbabes cover but don’t let that put you off from what is a hugely promising single.

Underground Railroad - Sticks And Stones - One Little Indian - 21st July
I can’t help but think of The Cooper Temple Clause when i hear this song. The Underground Railroad have taken all the good things that band had summoned in their career while taking it a step further. Sure, it takes a while to kick in but when the bridge and final chorus kicks in you suddenly realise what that build up was all about.
Awesome stuff.

Chris Bathgate - Restless - One Little Indian - July 14th
Clocking in at just over two minutes, Ann Arbor’s Chris Bathgate gives us his latest song ‘Restless’, which is taken from his UK debut album ‘A Cork Tale Wake’. Mixing acoustics and slightly overdriven guitars with a trumpet, Chris Bathgate’s sound on this song is very reminiscent of Neutral Milk Hotels ‘In The Aeroplane Over The Sea’ sound.
Short but sweet.
