Greetings from sunny (and at the moment, ridiculously hot) Southern California! My name is Maritza. I live in Orange County, CA and I can’t stand it sometimes. I’ve been offered the great opportunity to write music reviews here on 405. I’m sure you’re already bored with me, but here’s some random information that you could probably care less about but took me a while to think about, so…. READ IT!

FAVOURITE BANDS: The Beatles always; Brand New, Manchester Orchestra and Bright Eyes when I’m thinking or being emotional; Eisley and She & Him when I feel like singing like a girl for once; Coldplay and Radiohead when I wish I lived in the U.K.; The Shins when I want to listen to a story; Playradioplay!, when I feel like dancing; Delta Spirit, My Pet Saddle, the Union Line and Dr. Dog when I feel like listening to a modern band going back to 60’s roots; and Johnny Cash when I feel like dying, not literally but….

FAVOURITE MOVIES: Recent goodies for me were: The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, the Darjeeling Limited, and the Brothers Grimm.

FAVOURITE PLACES TO BE: Los Angeles, Anywhere with my best friends, Disneyland, Shows, and in the arms of actor Shia LaBeouf… it just hasn’t happened yet.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT OF ME: I go to tons of shows. Mostly local; showing up to support my friends who are in awesome bands. In the very near future, I’ll be posting a review of the Jesse Lacey (of BRAND NEW) and Kevin Devine solo acoustic show I’ll be going to next week. I’m also seeing the Honorary Title the first week of August. I also just finished writing a review on the new Coldplay free download, “Death Will Never Conquer”, to be posted soon.

My only hope is that you would appreciate what we are posting here on 405, and look forward to it. How was my first impression?
