Gym Class Heroes – Astoria 2 – 18/09/2008

21:15, Astoria 2 – London and all that could be heard was the quiet muttering of the crowd waiting for Gym Class Heroes to appear from backstage.
The lights go out and the room fills with screaming and cheers from the Gym Class Heroes fans.
The waiting was over and Gym Class Heroes had one thing on their minds and that was to not disappoint, and they did just that! Starting with one of their hit singles ‘Clothes Off’, they wasted no time in getting the their loved fans involved. Clothes Off was soon followed by one of their newly released singles featuring Busta Rhymes, ‘Peace Sign/Index Finger’

Continuing with the crowd involvement, Travis got them all to do the actions to the song, by putting their peace sign up and then putting their index fingers down, and as you may have guessed everyone took the opportunity to do so! Travis enjoyed every minutes of it, smiling from one side of his face the to other.

Gym Class Heroes performed a lively set and kept everyone on their feet. Playing songs from their well know album ‘As Cruel as School Children’, songs such as ‘Cupids Chokehold’ and ‘Queen and I’. They also went even further back in the history of the band and played a quick snippet of songs from their album ‘The Papercut Chronicles’ which had the die-hard fans singing along to!

If all this wasn’t enough there was still time for one more surprise up their sleeves. Near the end of the set Travis calls on to the stage London’s very own Estelle! Estelle is featured on the first track off the new album ‘The Quilt’ on the track called ‘Guilty As Charged’. The night just got better and better!

Gym Class Heroes ended the night on a quiet note by playing a slower song off their newly released album ‘No Place To Run’, ending the night with a lot for their fans to go home happy about!

Overall this gig has to go down as one of the best of 2008, it had it all, fan involvement and surprises and special guests! I strongly recommend seeing Gym Class Heroes on their next visit to the UK!

5/5

The new track with Daryl Hall sounds pretty sweet, but no Oates?!? Blasphemy!
