CasioKids
October sees Norway’s breakthrough pop quintet Casiokids return to the UK for a full tour including shows at Camden’s Proud Galleries and a party with Little Boots as part of The Warehouse Project in Manchester. Recently tagged by excitable UK media as ‘the hottest tip since Hot Chip’ (NME), ‘most impressive’ (Guardian Guide) and ‘a Scandinavian sensation’ (The Independent) Casiokids have also pricked up the ears of UK stalwarts The Doves who upon hearing the last single, keenly requested the band support them on tour.

Our Brother The Native
Our Brother The Native's latest LP, ‘Sacred Psalms’ (FatCat, 2009) is a gorgeous, mature, hope-catalysing record that sees the band's combined influences simultaneously increase tenfold and be transcended by their ingenuity and intent. Tangentially connected to the burgeoning freak folk and new noise communities, but perhaps closer to individualists such as High Places or Bird Show, ‘Sacred Psalms’ is a great new album by a band who – amidst an ocean of derivitive/ generic copyists – really are finding their own voices and doing something a little bit different. We believe they fully deserve your attention. Featuring current core members Josh Bertram (vocals, guitar, saxophone, piano, banjo, organ, synth, drums /percussion, programming/samples/noise) and Chaz Knapp (vocals, guitar, banjo), the band's creative process has been a mixture of working individually in isolation, sending material and ideas back and forth across the internet, and occasionally coming together to rehearse, record and tour.

You have the wrong Jamie T song up, this is unfair on poor Jamie... However I think Delphic kick ass too. [view article]

She and Him WTF? (did you see what i did there?) "Well all right, it's okay. We all get the slips sometimes, every day." Wow, clearly Deschanel is the next Morrissey. I really like the new Laura Marling though. [view article]

Well I find them boring. What's the appeal? Is it the 'they toured with Los Campesinos! so therefore they're good' argument? As for the 'surely due to hit the big time' comment, I'm pretty sure I heard that at this exact time last year about that album. When is this hitting the 'big time' going to happen exactly?
