THE WONDER STUFF, THE OYSTER BAND AND MORE ACTS ANNOUNCED INCLUDING BBC INTRODUCING DJ TOM ROBINSON CURATION
Supergrass has confirmed as the first headline act at this year’s Wychwood Music Festival 2009. The Britpop legends, who will appear on Saturday 30 May, are amongst the first acts to be confirmed for The Independent stage line-up, which also boasts the likes of The Wonder Stuff, a welcome return for front-man Miles Hunt who wowed the crowds at last year’s Wychwood Festival with a stunning solo set. Also new to the bill on The Independent stage are Danny & The Champions Of The World, The Mummers, 2 tone ska heroes The Beat and The Oyster Band. Wychwood Music Festival will once again take place at the luscious Cheltenham racecourse from Friday 29 May to Sunday 31 May 2009.
Celebrating its fifth birthday in 2009, Wychwood Festival is delighted to announce that BBC Introducing ambassador Tom Robinson will curate the evening line-up of the third, Wickwar stage across the festival weekend. Under the banner of Tom Robinson’s ‘Fresh on the Net Sessions’, the 6Music DJ will hand pick some of the hottest new acts in the UK to appear exclusively for Wychwood festival goers. The sessions confirmed so far come from Orphans & Vandals, Hoodlums, Alice Gun, Natalie Ross, Mooli and Dan Whitehouse.
Widely regarded as the UK’s most family and green friendly festival, Wychwood has gone from strength to strength over the last five years fast becoming the UK’s most successful independent arts event of the summer season.
Adult weekend tickets are priced at £110 and can be purchased from the festival box office on 01993 772580, Ticketmaster.co.uk on 0844 847 1681, WeGotTickets.com or SeeTickets.com

Nirvana, mainly because they were over and done with before I was musically conscious so Dave Grohl couldn't ruin them for me by how intrinsically annoying he is. [view article]

We are including all his musical directions in the debate, which is why we're discussing whether he was better in Foo Fighters or Probot also. Facts are he is a better drummer than he is a guitarist or vocalist, and as we're debating which band he was best in rather than which band he made the best, he thus performed better in Nirvana and QOTSA. To repeat what some of the others have said, he's been good in Foos and had a lot of fame, but hasn't been nearly as influential or impressive as in the bands beforehand. [view article]

Sure, but since Grohl has played his hand at many different musical directions its important to include all of them in this debate in order to find out when he was at his best. Otherwise It'd be a debate about when he was the best drummer... For the record, I do think he's a really good drummer. But doesn't it take a little something away from QOTSA as a band and Grohl himself, if were just going to consider his one off involvement with the group as his crowning moment? I've always been a fan of that band, way before Grohl ever did SFTD with them and though he was a great addition, it's not like the album was carried on his drumming alone. QOTSA are an awesome band regardless of whether Grohl played with them or not. [view article]
