405 Exclusive: Cosmo Jarvis - 'Sunshine'
It's not every day we here at the 405 get sent an exclusive country-rock track from the deep south. Even rarer is when the deep south we referred to is in fact Devon.
It took us a while to believe it, but Cosmo Jarvis (famously the creator of 'Gay Pirates') has released a track that sounds like it could have come straight out of the Bible belt. 'Sunshine' is so country that it has a chorus complimented by a choir of gruff voices all with a classic banjo backing. We also note the oddity that this track, containing the line "I'm so sick of the sunshine, tell me when the storm come in," would be released now.
Maybe he's taken the hosepipe ban to heart?

A far closer run contest this last week, with Deerhoof only just pipping Grouplove to the honours by a mere three votes, taking 35% percent of the final result. Austra and Darwin Deez were left propping up the table whilst, in my opinion, another surprise with Lower Dens completing the top three. The synth-pop of Talking Pictures and 'Mirrors' takes the crown of last week's best release, according to you lovely folk, with 55.95% of the vote, ably supported by 'Shimmer, Shimmer' from the lovely She's Hit. This week there is a Belgian girls choir, scuzzy lo-fi and Cosmo Jarvis. A fair mix I think you'll agree. Have a read, have a listen, then have a bloody good vote at the bottom of the page.
