405 Fashion: Theyskens' Theory Resort 2013
Last week saw the unveiling of the Theyskens Theory 2013 Resort collection in New York. Oliver Theyskens, born in Belgium, established the brand in 2010 when he paired with the New York label Theory. Theyskens, a well respected designer who won the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) International award whilst creative director of Rochas, focuses heavily on clean tailoring a simple shapes. These such concepts have been core to the fashion brand's image.
The most recent resort collection sees Theyskens' beautifully cut mini dresses, tailored close to the female form cumulating into a slight a-line above the knees, married with Doc Martens on the catwalk. As always with Theyskens Theory's collections, the spotlight falls on the jackets and trousers. The jackets in the 2013 Resort collection cover a range of occasions and styles from sharp, power-exuding, more formal blazers, to those with softer silhouettes in lighter fabrics.
The resort collection victoriously executes looks from both end of the spectrum: simple sweaters, loose-fitting blouses with mesh inserts and laid-back shorts in a variety of fabrics ensure a casual yet well put-together look, whilst linear trousers, cropped at the ankles and fitted jackets make for the perfect work wear wardrobe. Theyskens' Theory 2013 collection features two stand out looks. A sweater with a subtle fusion of darker colours in almost oil-spill pattern paired with a pair of black shorts that transform into mesh trousers create an interesting, yet surprisingly elegant outfit. Another innovative design seen in the collection was a jumpsuit that gathered loosely in a way that you would tie a sweater around your hips.
Once again Oliver Theyskens triumphs through his tailoring expertise, creating feminine, strong designs yet still being able to create casual looks, making the label accessible to all styles. For the best images online, visit Style.com: http://www.style.com/fashionshows/review/2013RST-TTHEORY
