CocknBullKid is one of those artists that seems to have been around forever, constantly on the cusp of making it big and being a properly established showstopper, but never quite reaching the masses she deserves to. This, it seems is about to all change. Firstly you see, she has changed her name a bit. She is now, ‘CocknBullKid’ not ‘TheI CocknBullKid,’ which for those in the business, is a bit like changing your hair when you have a bad break up. It means you are starting fresh, pumping out some fresh tunes and being all you can be and not staying in crying over Loose Woman. Secondly, she has rounded off her sound so that whilst still maintaining, the cool electro edge that first made her endearing, there are also a few more breezy pop hooks to snag them lot outside the ‘E9’ scene as she calls it. Either way, it’s splendid and we will be able to bask in all this refreshed creativity in the form of her new single, ‘One Eye Closed,’ released through Moshi Moshi/Island on November 8, the same label responsible for orchestrating the current rise and rise of Sheffield’s Slow Club. So it’s certainly, “all gravy,” as Romeo Dunn would say. CocknBullKid will be joining Kele and Marina and The Diamonds on tour respectively throughout upcoming months.
