Madison Martin Margiela x H&M
Joining fashion power house names such as Versace, Karl Lagerfeld, Viktor & Rolf, Lanvin and, most recently, Marni, is Maison Martin Margiela, in collaborating with the Swedish high street chain H&M, confirmed on 12th June. The latest collaboration with H&M to look out for is Vogue Japan's fashion director, Anna Dello Russo's accessory line. Sharpen your elbows because when the Margiela capsule collection is realeased in November of this year, it is sure to be a sold-out success like most of the previous collaborations (there's no hope finding a Versace for H&M piece these days!).
Belgian-born Martin Margiela, who established the label in 1988, has kept the label shrouded in a veil of mystery, starting with himself. Camera-shy Margiela, has never been photographed and has famously never appeared on the runway. This air of mystery with a tinge of secrecy has been channelled over the years into his creations. Nevertheless, Margiela himself left in 2009, after the label was acquired by Diesel brand in 2002. Ever since, there has been no spokesperson for the brand yet the core concepts that Margiela founded the label on, have remained ever present. Margiela pushed the boundaries of fashion, labelled as being the seventh member of the "Antwerp Six", a group that brought Belgian fashion to the forefront. Based on deconstructionist ideals, Margiela designs exhibit seams and linings outside of the items of clothing and closed the gap between fashion and art.
The Maison Martin Margiela collaboration with H&M is stated to be released on the 15th November- save the date!
