Plastic Platform: C18 Kid Smpl
The Plastic Platform series has been on something of a globe-trotting adventure over recent weeks, and we continue this form for C18 by heading to the West Coast of the US, with a superb electronic mix by Seattle's Kid Smpl.
However his introspective, spacious, beat-driven aesthetic almost sounds as if they're concocted in a Zone 3 London tower-block, hanging under a weed-and-smog-haze; though conversely, Joey Butler (the real name) successfully articulates his own idiosyncrasies to create something with a strong sense of sui generis.
The mix very much reflects this, and features some fresh material from the man himself (fresh to our ears at least). An EP titled Escape Pod is out now to buy on Hush Hush Records - and you can stream the EP here.
