POP ETC // Top 5 Tracks Of The Year

by The 405, 22 June 2012

POP ETC share with us their favourite tracks of the year. From Carly Rae Jepsen to Kanye West, these are all massive pop tunes.

Usher - Climax

Love how understated the hook is on this song. Arrangement is sparse and perfect. Beautiful vocal performance and sound. Just a wonderful song all around.

Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe

This song is kind of all chorus, but it's a really, really, really great chorus.

Kanye West - Mercy

It's no secret how much we love Kanye. Ill track.

Justin Bieber - Die In Your Arms

Biebs doing his thing over jackson 5 is sort of golden. Not that he is MJ or anything, but I can't think of anyone else who could do this right now. I think he's really coming into his own as a singer, too. Aww biebs is all grown up!

The-Dream - Kill The Lights

I love how dream can simultaneously be super airy and sparkly, and also really heavy and dirge-y. I think sometimes the darker aspects of his tracks get overlooked. This song is one of the heavier things he's ever done. I dig how long it is, too.
