Spotifigures: Spotify release U.S. figures

by Kris De Souza, 24 July 2012

It has been twelve months since Spotify was launched in the U.S. and today some figures have been released showing how successful the music streaming service has been stateside. 13 billion songs have been listened to in the USA in the past year which equates to almost 42 songs per US citizen listened to. Almost 28 million of those songs have been shared via social networks and users spotify profiles with Facebook taking the lions share with 55.3%.

Just to prove the service's popularity in the US, Spotify claimed at the beginning of this year that they had just 3 million paying subscribers worldwide which also suggested that Spotify users spent twice as much on Spotify Premium than the average music fan spends on buying music.

Musically speaking there really isn't a theme other than 'these 10 tracks will make you go WOAH'. So give it a listen and make sure you're firmly positioned in your chair/couch/beanbag, as these songs are likely to cause a 5.6 on the internal 'Woah' scale. [read more]
