The 1975 - 'Sex' (Hackman Remix) [Download]
The chances are that Manchester-based quartet The 1975 never saw 1975, though their Sex EP does contain a slither of the pomp and grandiose designs of that era, spliced with something a lot more contemporary.
Here bass-maniac Hackman has got involved with remix duites for the title track from the EP (stream here) and has transformed it into a wholly different entity - full of smoothly produced 2-step ways and garage beats. The 1975's debut album is currently being recorded and is due for Spring 2013, and producing-artisan Mike Crossey, who has worked with the likes of Foals and Arctic Monkeys, is lending a helping hand.
Download 'Sex' below (always wanted to type that), and the EP is out today, November 19th.

I'm not sure whether it's the fact that I'm going on holiday soon, or the sunshine vibes showcased on this remix of 'Rich Blood', but I really want to put on some shorts and drink some beer. It could also have a lot to do with the names of the artists involved, but it's making me happy, and that's the main thing. [read more]
