The 405 Gig Guide is back! Wellâ¦sort of. It seems bands donât like to play much in the first few weeks of the year, which suits our week-long New Years hangovers, but doesnât serve our Gig Guide very well. Below youâll find some of the gigs we did manage to mind but weâd like to stress that in the coming weeks the weekly guide will be a lot plumper.
The Gentle Good - 10 Feet Tall // 11th January 2011
Part of the January Home Town Heroes festival in January, Cardiffâs Gareth Bonello plays his delicate folk songs at 10 Feet Tall, with intricate acoustic flitters and vocals in both English and Welsh. Support comes from the wonderfully weird Meilir, who combines experimental instrumentation, electro beats, acoustic guitar and piano to make his unusual take on folk music.

James Blake - Plan B // 14th January 2011
As one of our 'Ones to Watch' for 2011, James Blake at Plan B is the first essential gig of the year. If he can pull off live what he's managed to put down on record then you'd be a fool miss this.

The Coral â Ruby Lounge // 15th and 16th January 2011
A local gig for a local band, almost! The Coral return for an intimate acoustic set at the rather stunning Ruby Lounge. With a string of critically acclaimed releases under their belt, including a Mercury Music Prize nomination, their vintage sound is definitely one to see live. And, with support from fellow Liverpudlian, Delta Maid, it is sure to be a great treat. 2011 is not just for the ânext big thingâ. Remember your old favourites, too!
