I missed all but the last thirty seconds or so of
Cloud Castle Lakesâ set (there was a mix-up with press passes, but it wasnât The 405âs fault) but for what itâs worth, they were a pretty good thirty seconds.
Halves were on shortly after, with a stripped back line-up, although that may have been a tactical decision given the tiny stage in Crawdaddy. Theyâre one of the best post-rock bands in Ireland, and even if the genre as a whole is getting a little repetitive, they hold up well as an example. Their set was beautiful.
Bear In Heavenâs music is very melodic, with a mix of electronic beats and live drums, and a really solid presence live that it lacks a little on record. Itâs calm and pretty, and very well-executed. I wouldnât be surprised to see them playing a much bigger venue next time they make it over here.
